Deleting Tasks, Stages, Jobs, and Projects

To prevent accidental deletion of data, TrafficLIVE requires data to be deleted from the bottom up.

For example, if you get an error message when you attempt to delete an item, it means that there are items further down the hierarchy that you must delete first. The following table describes the project hierarchy.

Project Hierarchy Notes
Project To delete a project, you must first delete all related jobs and quotes.

After you have confirmed those deletions, on the Financials page, click the Add Job button, hover over the project that you want to delete, then click the to delete the project.

Job To delete a job, all tasks that make up the job must be completely unassigned, free from dependencies, and have no timed logged against them. There must also be no purchases, actual expenses, or invoices made against the job.
  • To check for purchases, click the Financials page Purchases tab. If a PO has been created against the purchase, you must delete it before you can delete the purchase.
  • To check for expenses, click the Financials page Expenses tab. If there are actual expenses on the job, you must open the related expense sheet and delete the actual expenses.
  • To delete an issued invoice, click Menu > Jobs > Invoice Search. Locate the invoice, then delete it by clicking the X. Deleting invoices requires appropriate permissions. Your TrafficLIVE administrator may not allow any invoices to be deleted, in which case the job must also remain in your system.

After you have confirmed all of these, you can click More Actions > Delete Job.

Stage To delete a stage, you must remove all tasks from the stage. Drag the tasks in the stage out of the stage, then select the stage. The Remove Stage button is then enabled; click it to delete the stage.
Task To delete a task, it must be completely unassigned, free from dependencies, and have no time logged against it.
  • To check for time sheets, click Task Time Sheet on the Financials page Time tab to see if there are any time sheets associated with the task.
  • To check for allocated time, look at the <#>% (Percentage Allocated) display below Task Time sheet. If it is a number other than zero, you know that time has been allocated to the task.
  • To check for dependencies, view the Job Schedule Gantt chart.
